GG FIELD TRIP: Del Frisco’s Grille Santa Monica

The Grape Girls do Del Friscos Grille
Santa Monica, CA

image8You know what makes us happy? What’s that? Wine? Oh. Well, yeah. That’s a given. Know what ELSE makes us happy? FOOD. All of the food. Now, we realize that we live in a particular section of the country where juice cleanses are the norm and there’s a new gluten-free-vegan-raw-low-carb-GMO-free-organic diet you just HAVE to try every time you turn around, and, you know, we oblige. Sometimes. LA is crazy. But sometimes, a girl just wants meat. Bread. CHEESE. So we were thrilled when we were invited out to Del Frisco’s Grille in Santa Monica for some white-linen-worthy cooking and cocktails with a laid back beachy vibe. And, much to our surprise, we left feeling (almost) completely guilt-free.

Located on Ocean Boulevard (and yes, in full view of said ocean) and directly across from the famous Santa Monica Pier, Del Frisco’s is the perfect spot for a big menu at a great price, a killer view, enough ambiance to make you feel like a superstar, a top-notch staff with, may we add, killer photo taking skills (thanks again, Paul!), and a  cocktail and wine list for DAYS. Here are just a few of the new menu items we got to try:

Red Sangria
Find it Under: Drinks / Price Point: $12 / Bonus: Looks like Vacation in a Glass

IMG_3897 Of course, the first stop on our visit to Del Frisco’s had to include a cocktail. I mena, HUH-LO, we’re The GRAPE Girls, after all. So when we asked T’hai, the lovely manager on duty for her recommendation, she immediately suggested the new Red Sangria. She was speaking our language that day, because this sangria was the perfect choice for a warm, sunny afternoon on the porch overlooking the ocean. A Tempranillo base, this cocktail in a wine glass combines Stoli Razberi, Cointreau, Sweet & Sour, white peach puree and fresh lime for a taste that looks and feels like a tropical vacation. It’s almost too pretty to drink. ALMOST.

 Heirloom Tomato & Burrata
Find it Under: Ruffage / Price Point: $13.5 / Bonus: It’s Gluten Free!

image3This gorgeous display of fresh tomatoes and creamy, melt-in-your-mouth burrata cheese is topped off with balsamic vinegar, basil oil and micro greens. Micro greens, MEGO taste. This lovely little salad is that perfect thing to split with a girlfriend, or enjoy on your own for a light yet satisfying lunch option.

Chips and Guacamole
Find it Under: Food To Fight Over / Price Point: $11 / Bonus: Great for sharing

Ok, I know you’re probably thinking, chips and guac? image4Really, ladies? But hear us out. This guac is not to be overlooked. The light, crispy corn tortilla chips act as a perfect vessel to  scoop into your mouth, but it’s the flavor that hits when it arrives – creamy avocado, zesty lime, chunky tomato – that makes this guac an appetizer a real crowd pleaser. Plus, we’re in California, the avocado capital. Freshness and ripe goodness guaranteed.

Spicy Pork Meatball
Find it Under: Flatbreads / Price Point: $14.5 / Bonus: Not too spicy

Doimage6n’t let the name of this crispy-yummy-goodness fool you. If you like a little kick but aren’t enrolling in a World’s Hottest Pepper Eating Contest anytime soon, this flatbread is for you. The Grape Girls LOVE how thin the bread is, how decadent the ricotta cheese is, and how the banana pepper’s sweet and tangy side perfectly complimented the kick found in the pork meatball. Real Talk: We had to physically STOP ourselves from eating this dish. It was THAT delicious.

Chicken Avocado Wrap with Sweet Potato Fries
Find it Under: Two-Fisted Sandwiches / Price Point: $15 / Bonus: Leftovers

image7image5This sandwich, y’all. THIS. SANDWICH. Take everything you love about the classic chicken wrap and then make it awesome. Tender grilled chicken. Crispy, bright lettuce. Juicy tomato. SMOKED BACON? Oh yeah, you had us at bacon. But the real kicker, the thing that makes this massive, stuffed wrap of deliciousness great is the chipotle aioli that binds it all together. Zesty and tangy and just the right amount of OOMPH to make it a flavor party in your mouth. Served with a side of sweet potato fries (or the side of your choosing), this lunch wrap will have you coming back on a weekly basis. Plus, you’ll likely get leftovers out of it too, because of it’s large portion size. HUZZAH!

Butterscotch Pudding Jar
Find it Under: Dessert / Price Point: 8 / Bonus: Salty & Sweet

image1OMG. You GUYS. This dessert is more than a dessert. It’s an experience in your mouth. Grape Girl Tee was the first to point out that she’s NOT A) a sweets fan nor 2) a butterscotch fan. So she was super skeptical when it came time to try this dessert. Had her game face ready and everything. No game face needed for this decadence, however. This adorable little jar came packed with flavor. Rich, creamy pudding on bottom layered with melted caramel topped with salt and fluffy whipped cream. If you’re mouth isn’t watering yet, you might want to check your reflexes. Run, don’t walk, to try this amazingness.

We had the best time to visiting this oasis by the sea. If you find yourself in the Santa Monica area, make sure you pop in to see T’hai, Paul, and the rest of the super friendly staff at Del Frisco’s Grille. Or click here to find a location nearest you. We promise you won’t be disappointed.

Until our next adventure, we HEART you.

xo,

Lo & Tee
